General informationAbstract submission Your abstract should not exceed 250 words. Please do not select more than two topics.
Poster format Please use size A0 (height 118 cm, width 84 cm).
Oral presentations The length of regular oral presentations is 15 min (+5 min discussion). Submitted oral presentations of particular importance/quality may be upgraded to keynote lecture (25+5 min). Acceptance of an abstract for oral presentation requires the presenter to be registered before 26 Jan 2018!
Registration fees and payment The registration fees (incl. VAT) are as follows:
To benefit from the reduced SFSM or DGMS membership registration fees, 2018 membership fees must be fully paid up. To benefit from the student rates, proof of student status must be provided with the payment. Cancellations are possible until 28 February. A cancellation fee of €20 (students) or €50 (regular) will be charged in these cases. After 28 February, no cancellations are possible anymore. Online registration closes on 7 March 2018. After this, please use on-site registration at the conference. No on-site registration is available for the Gala dinner. The deadline for the Gala dinner registration is 1 March 2018. Payment is possible via direct bank transfer or by credit card. For credit card payments, please initially choose the option of direct bank transfer. A link for credit card payment options will then be available on the next page.
Travel stipends for DGMS student members DGMS student members who meet the guidelines can apply for DGMS travel stipends via the online form on the DGMS website (information in German only) before January 31, 2018. Students applying for a travel stipend will receive a flat rate of 350 €. Students from the local area (Saarland, Kaiserslautern) will receive a reduced flat rate of 250 €. Importantly, students who apply for a travel stipend will have to confirm by signature - directly after the conference in Saarbrücken - that no additional third-party financial support is available. Otherwise the travel stipend cannot be awarded. Additional announcements may be made during the conference in Saarbrücken!
Official languages Conference badges Name tags are provided at the registration desk in Building B4.1, along with your conferene bag. Name tags must be worn at all times within the conference venue. The name tag also serves as ticket for free public transportation (Saarbahn + tram) from Monday morning to Thursday night.
Mixer/Welcome reception On Sunday night, following the Wolfgang Paul Lecture and the first plenary lecture, please join us at the welcome reception in the foyer of the conference building, starting at 7pm.
Lunch/coffee Lunch is included with the registration fees on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Coffee will be provided throughout the conference in the poster/exhibition areas.
Cloakroom No cloakroom is available. Coats can be left at the self-serve coat-racks across the entrance of the Audimax (at your own risk).
Gala dinner The conference dinner will take place at the Carreau Wendel mining museum La Mine in Petite-Rosselle on Wednesday night. Petite-Rosselle is located just across the border on the French side. Bus transportation from the conference venue and back to Saarbrücken will be available. The buses will leave at 5:30pm (sharp!) at the main university bus-stop Campus. The gala dinner menu is entirely without pork. Please tell us if you have any food intolerances:
Internet Free wireless internet is provided in the conference building (network: EMSC2018). Eduroam is also available.
Traveling from city center to university Free public transportation is included with your registration fee, between 12-15 March. Please use your conference badge as ticket.
